About the "Grits
Girls" Name

Dana
and friends Linda Alverson, Donna Hunt, Staci Scroggs, Joyce Stansell, and
Angela Watts took a girls-only trip to New York City. Each wore a "GRITS" sweatshirt
in the crowd at NBC's Today Show. Host Bryant Gumble interviewed them and
christened them "The Grits Girls".

The name has stuck, and they are still known as The Grits Girls today! Each of
the girls has contributed recipes to the books, and when it was time to decide
on a name for the first book, it had to be GRITS!
